Seascape House after Floyd
All these pictures were taken two weeks after Floyd
New Beach Front:
floydseaview.tif (1563791 bytes)This picture is from the front porch of Seascape House looking north. You will notice in this picture the new growth on the sea grapes in the lower right hand corner. The new growth is after only one week. At this rate every thing will be green again in about four weeks.

End of the road as you top the hill on the way to the Abaco Inn:

South of the inn on the beach:
Floydsouthbeach.jpg (41470 bytes)The large concrete blocks you see are the cisterns of the houses that were washed away. The only thing that remains is a very large beach with very little evidence of the dwellings. When you walk down the road and look at the ocean you get the feeling that you are actually below the level of the waves.

The new cut in White Sound:
dscn0133.jpg (22562 bytes)There was a large house that sat high on a dune at this point. The house was destroyed and the remains are on the opposite shore and on the bottom of white sound, along with many other houses from the dune. You may remember this house as a combination of a two barn shaped houses separated by a breeze way. This is the point in island where very high tides wash across the road to the bay.

Going north on the road from Sea Spray:

The only remainder Leckie's  Wind Swept house:

dscn0154.jpg (35060 bytes) The level of the ground was once at the level of the cistern you see in this picture. The dune in front of the was another three feet higher than the tank. The tile floor you see just behind the tree is on a concrete slab that was the floor of a room three feet higher than the tank in the background and on the ocean side.

I feel the positive type of attitude shown on this sign will propel the rapid redevelopment of the area.
